Timo Bracht of the Giant-sponsored Power Horse Triathlon Team scored one of the best wins of his career Sunday, winning the Datev Challenge Roth on a hot day in his native Germany. The 38-year-old covered the course in a time of 7:56:00 and was the only competitor to break the 8-hour mark.

Bracht came out of the 2.4-mile swim in a group of 10 that was chasing leader Nils Frommhold. Riding his Trinity Advanced SL bike, he stayed near the front on the 112-mile bike ride, posting a time of 4:19:59. The German then came from behind during the marathon, running a time of 2:44:32 to take the win over Frommhold by 4:39.

Bracht, a two-time Ironman Europe champion, has had several podium appearances at Roth, but Sunday’s win marked his first victory at the event. It was also his fastest time ever in an Ironman distance race.
