CBD Cycles - 30/01/2013
Giant's new Propel Advanced SL aero road bike has been released and has already claimed its first victory with Tom-Jelte Stagter taking advantage of the new low-drag shape to carry him to success as the winner of The Tour Down Under.

Giant launched its new bike just days prior to the start of the race. According to Giant, the new bike is substantially speedier aerodynamically, while still only weighing 950g for a medium frame!

Giant is releasing several models over the next few weeks. These bikes will be in high demand and dealers expect to sell out well before the spring classics begin!

Key features include a Giant OverDrive 2-friendly 1 1/4in steerer clamp, true aero shape tubing with integrated seat posts on the higher end model. The down tube is specifically shaped to work with a round water bottle and there is aero brake caliper behind both the front fork and the rear seat stay. The head tube is hourglass shaped to help cheat the wind and all gear cables naturally run internally.

Shimano fits out the top of the range Propel SL O with the new Dura-Ace Di2 9070 group. Coupled with Giants PSLR compostie carbon wheels and carbon integrated handlebar and stem all for a measly $7999 price tag.

The Propel SL1 comes with mechanical Dura ace 11 speed with Giants PSLR carbon composite wheels and Giant Carbon stem and shallow drop handlebars. All this for a bargain $6199 price tag.

The women are graced with two specific model
Envie advanced 1 featuring Shimano Ultegra and PSLO Giant wheels for a respectable $3599 and a 105 model for only $2799!!!
The Propel is light enough to handle all you mountain passes and if your like me and love a sprint, this bike will keep kicking all the way to the coffee shop victory speech.
Where these bikes will really come into their own is for that same athlete who enjoy a coffee, want to mostly road ride but also want to occasionally clip on a set of aerobars and yell "passing" as they knock out a triathlon.

Any way you cut it the Propel will be an outright winner.
