Rabobank rider Lars Boom started the Critérium du Dauphiné stage race with a bang Sunday, winning the 5.4km prologue time trial on his Giant Trinity Advanced SL team bike.

Boom, the 2007 Cyclocross World Champion, powered over the main climb and capitalized on his strong bike-handling skills, carving through the tight corners to take the win in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. Boom pulled on the yellow leader’s jersey and will start Monday’s Stage 1 road race with a two-second lead over second-place Alexandre Vinokourov.

The Dauphiné, an eight-day stage race that concludes June 12, is a traditional warm-up race to the Tour de France. Many of the top Tour hopefuls use the race for final preparation on the roads of France, with particular focus on some difficult stages in the Alps. This year’s Dauphiné also includes a 42.5-kilometer time trial in Grenoble that’s identical to a decisive TT in the Tour next month.

Come in and check out Boom's TT rig at CBD Cycles.
Prices start from just $3999.
