Gamin Cervelo Win Paris-Roubaix
CBD Cycles - 11/04/2011
Garmin Cervelo team and tactics proved too strong for raging favourite Cancellara, with early breakaway Johan Van Summeren delivering an emotional victory at Hell of the North."The team played a perfect tactic today. Thor was a team captain and he was able to follow Cancellara, so you could see that he was very strong today. Johan was smart to get into that breakaway and we kept telling him to wait for Thor. And when Thor's group didn't reach the front, we gave Johan the chance to attack," said Garmin-Cervélo sport director Jonathan Vaughters. "This, by far, is our biggest win as a team. And we're especially pleased the way we won it. People have to remember that cycling is a team sport and we rode our team tactics today to perfection."
Cancellara stormed home from a long way out to clinch second in a sprint finish with Giant Rabobanks Maarten Tjallingii, who took third.
It's great to see the two great brands we love, trust and represent winning at such a prestigious race. The Cervelo boys rode the ever reliable R3(the only climbers bike to be strong enough to win three Paris-Roubaix's) while Rabobank's Tjallingii rode the great all rounder, the Giant TCR Advanced SL.
